Just back from Mongolian plateau. It is so refreshing. Actually I never realized I could dive into Mongolian culture at a place so close to Beijing that I can visit in one weekend.
I'll tell all my friends, don't be a tourist, be a traveler. The authentic Mongolian nomadic life was unforgettable. We lived at a yurt. They just moved from their winter pasture to the summer pasture. Next time I 'll definitely join them for the move. The winter pasture is in the Hunshandak desert. It is not really a desert, a savana. Sister Ona, our host is in her late thirties. I love her smile, her giggling.
Life in the yurt is simple but happy. I love the Mongolian milk tea and their cheese - the milk tofu. Guess what they burn? Bull shit, no kidding, bull shit. Just one day is already an unforgettable experience, milk the cows was such a challenge. What I loved most is the herding cubs. The most beautiful time came at the sunset. Standing on the bank of River Gonger, listening to the Mongolian "long tone" Singer's song...
